The ethos of The Studios is at the core of everything we do – Nurture, Inspire, Succeed.

After teaching in and around Tunbridge Wells and working in various local preparatory schools, Sophie and Hannah decided to follow their dream and open their own dance school. Both Sophie and Hannah share a passion for dance and teaching and the joy that it brings them and those around them.

Together, Sophie and Hannah nurture the love of dance in all their students, whatever age or level.  Through fun and engaging lessons, they inspire the children to always be their very best, a great lesson for life, encouraging them to achieve their goals is mastering a step in class, coming to class, developing their confidence or pursuing a career in Performing Arts.

In the last four years their pupils have accomplished great things – pupils have gained places as Junior, Mid and Senior Associates with The Royal Ballet School and National Youth Ballet, danced at the All England Finals, successfully auditioned and danced with The London Children’s Ballet and gained places at vocational schools.

Sophie and Hannah believe they have the most rewarding job in the world. With their careers and passion coming together, they consider themselves very lucky.

Hannah trained at The Centre of Performing Arts College, where she gained a Musical Theatre Diploma under the instruction of Karen King for three years.  Hannah always knew she wanted to be a dance teacher, and whilst training at the Centre she gained her teaching qualifications in D.D.I & D.D.E Ballet, Tap and Modern. Alongside teaching training she also gained many ISTD vocational graded examination results too. Prior to her training at The Centre, Hannah trained at the Miskin Theatre for two years where she completed her Diploma in Performing Arts Dance. Throughout her five years of Vocational training, and many teaching years, she has developed various skills to help her provide the best dance instruction that she possibly can. Hannah has a passion for dance, and opening The Studios, with her best friend Sophie beside her is such a dream come true.

Sophie trained at the prestigious Laine Theatre Arts, where she gained a full scholarship for a three year course in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre. Upon graduation, Sophie was awarded the ‘Classical Ballet Teaching Award’ after gaining the highest marks in the year for her teaching examinations in ISTD classical ballet. Sophie completed her training with both her RAD and ISTD vocational examinations in Ballet and Modern. After graduation, Sophie was offered a teaching position as the Ballet teacher at a preparatory school. Although at this point Sophie was planning a career as a professional dancer and performer, she fell in love with the job, the teaching and the children. Sophie realised that teaching is where her true passion lies and has been teaching ever since. In February 2016, Sophie started her very own little ballet school -Bessels Green Baby Ballet. Just over a year later, sixty ballerinas and a long waiting list – Sophie decided it was time to expand her classes – The Studios was born!

In 2019 we had two new additions to The Studios. Miss Sophie’s daughter, Fleur and Miss Hannah’s dog, Lemon – our Studios mascots! They have fitted beautifully into Studio life and you will often find them playing with our dancers between classes!
